Troszkę o Kreatywnym Mindmapowaniu

No dziś jakoś mi się nie zbiera na wspomnienia ani na biadolenie o tym jak mi źle z dala od domu. Jak sądzę jest to spowodowane jest kryzysem studenckim czyt. większą ilością pracy niż bym chciał, choć brak bliższego kontaktu z bliskimi też ma tu częściowo swój udział.
O czym dziś? Jak zwykle pisze w okolicy północy (tak naprawdę jest teraz 23:48 ale Google nadrabia.. muszę zmienić strefę czasową ;), ale nikomu to nie przeszkadza jak sądzę, bo i nikt nie czeka na kolejny post..

Ok do rzeczy.. w "dniu dzisiejszym" opowiem Tobie czytelniku o dość ciekawym projekcie open source pomagającym zebrać myśli w jedno miejsce - VUE czyli Visual Understanding Environment.
Szczerze chwilowo sam zapoznaje się z tym "potworkiem", jako że w końcu na horyzoncie widać wersję 3 i następują zmiany zwiększające znacznie funkcjonalność, ale od początku..
VUE jest programem pozwalającym budować mapy myśli (ale nie tylko) wykorzystując do tego różnego rodzaju elementy multimedialne tj. zdjęcia, audio, tekst itp.
Przez autorów jest promowany jako narzędzie do nauki np. na uniwersytetach do czego faktycznie się nadaje. Dzięki technice nazwanej "Pathway" możemy tworzyć "Ścieżki", które zostaną przedstawione jako slajdy prezentacji. A najlepsze jest to iż nie jesteśmy ograniczeni tylko do 1 ścieżki. Możemy ich nakreślić na naszej mapie dowolną ilość, np. po to, aby pokazać w bardzo ogólnej mapie bardzo drobne aspekty danego tematu.
Same slajdy możemy edytować, a podczas prezentacji możemy dowolnie przemieszczać się pomiędzy ścieżkami i powracać do głównego tematy za pomocą jednego kliknięcia. Genialne!
W tej chwili trwają prace nad nową wersją i kolejne funkcje pojawiają się dość szybko, z niecierpliwością czekam na wydanie wersji finalnej lub czegoś choć trochę zbliżonego do RC (można pobrać wersje "Feature Preview 4" już).
Jeżeli korzystasz z mindmap możesz chcieć wypróbować concept mapping i podzielić się wrażeniami. Na forum można zgłaszać błędy i nowe funkcje, które chcielibyśmy ujrzeć w kolejnych wydaniach.

Visual Understanding Environment is not really mind mapping tool it's new idea is called concept mapping also can be used for teaching classes. The difference? Huge! Can't possibly describe all features it possesses, and it 's now in heavy development/testing phase for new version so things are getting more interesting on a daily basis with more and more features.
But while new version is in development let's see it's main features:

* VUE is an Open Source project developed for all major platforms: GNU/Linux, Mac, Windows.
* Besides creating simple maps it allows us to add different information to a node (basic entity in map) like notes, keywords, images, files etc.
* Pathways (are different from simple connections between nodes) allow to use it for presenting different aspects of same topic. (and program supports many different pathways simultaneously)
Just imagine that You are going through presentation, but for whatever reason You have to change the subject slightly (maybe answer a question?) so You just switch to prepared pathway that will help You answer a question. After that You go back to Your previous slides and can continue leaving Your audience impressed (don't think Power Point can do this ;)
* Slides created with Pathways can be edited and customized.
* Easy to grasp basic ideas, but still offers much more later on.

As name suggests

I never would have thought that the name I came up for this blog would end up so true in it's meaning. It's nearly the end of 2008 and I'm wrighting from Lizbon in Portugal, about 3000km from home. These are really distant stars for me.
Nevertheless after a week here I can say I'm a bit happy about all this Erasmus stuff. People are nice, the weather is great (although a bit to warm for my standards ;p) but all in all this should be a good trip, oh and a one year trip I should have said.
I'm studying Informatics or Computer Science at IST Alameda, and it seems that it's a really high class university so I'm not quite sure if this trip thing is going to work out, on the other hand I can't loose faith in my good-time-to-be-here :P.
At the time beeing I'm trying to change most of the subjects since there has been some missunderstandings and other stuff going on, I have real faith that it wil all work out somehow.
That's it for now, I've got classess at 12:30 ;/ but hopefully they will be painless (and first and last time I go to these)

Resurected?

Whoo.. It's been a while, darn time flies like hell these days.. but since no one knows about this place i guess it doesn't really matter now. Well just for myself then, a bit what happened, and what is happening right now.

Let's see first thing is that not much has changed..basically nothing in my life.
Second is that now I'm in middle of writing my Engineer's Diploma, about Heavy Metal bands. Work is going steady but since I want to learn in France (and i know just a few words ;) ) using Erasmus student exchange program, I have to end it before 1st of July. This makes it a bit.. hard, although I'm a positive thinker so it'll work out somehow. (blood and sweat :) )

Hmm.. and my plans about future? Well I try not to go that far (at least not more that a year ahead) all can change within a day. But most important is my diploma, then scholarship, and studying abroad. What will come after, I'll deal with it like always.. head on. ;)

Hi, who would have known..here I'm starting my blog and on top of that it's few hours till new year. Why i decided on a blog? Hmm.. i suppose it's because of my memory of long forgoten "diary" You could say. Just wanted to save some of my memory somewhere. I'm not a wrighter, and i make mistakes..but these are the things that make us learn and remember things that matter.

Here's a bit info about me..
My name is Sebastian i live in Poland (Central Europe). I'm 21 and darn, still single (building up courage now ;) ). I study on Technical University of Koszalin on 3rd year of Computer Science.
